Have you ever been driving, and out of the blue, a melody pops in your head? If you’re like me, you don’t want to forget the tune, so you hum it over and over, until it’s stuck there. As soon as you get to a place where you can write it down or play it out, you do so. I want to go just a little deeper than the melody. I wonder, if you can remember, what motivated the melody in the first place? Was it another tune on the radio, or somewhere you passed along the way? Whatever it was, remember that, and use the experience as motivation for future works. Your experience may be different from others, but it’s your experience, and no one should be able to take that from you!
