#vibrations
Great music emits good vibrations. It’s not the same as noise. There is a difference!
Ground noise
Ok, it’s the perfect recording session and the mixing phase begins, but wait. what is that humming that I hear? You guessed it, ground noise. What is it and why does it happen? First of all, ground noise happens when wires or equipment hasn’t been properly constructed, bad wiring, or just a noisy electronic environment. You may or may not be the culprit, but the problem can be corrected. It just stinks that it happened on your perfect recording. Share with me some of your situations.
Mid-side
Stereo and mono is where we enjoy most of our sounds, but mid-side adds a different flavor to the kool-aide! Try it sometime.
Drum Miking
There are several ways for you can mic a drum kit. I will pretty much mic everything and separate it when mixing. How do you mic drums?
The right mic!
Voices vary in tone, harmonics, and pitch. It helps to have the right mic for those types.
#Value
Work, family relationships, friends, self…., We all have value, and nobody should be able to take it from you!
#Quality Counts
Creating music quality takes someone with a passion to give you what personifies them. Don’t settle for just anything. This is you, we’re talking about.
Let the #music tell us what it wants!
As an engineer, producer, or artist you cannot impose your intent over the sonic personality of a piece of music…. The music always wins out! We must let the music tell us what it wants!
