So…… I’m all hyped up about AES NYC, and then have to miss it! Preparations were made in advance for an experience of a lifetime, getting to network with top audio engineers and developers from all over the world, taking in presentations and listening to different artists share their experiences. Now I’m having to hear about it from my colleagues and associates. Extenuating circumstances had to be taken care of. So…. if you’re there in attendance, hook your boy up with some highlights, video, and any other information taken in. I would truly appreciate it. Maybe I’ll have to return the favor someday. At any rate, enjoy.

Still thinking about going?
#Downsizing
With new technologies in studio equipment, hanging on to some analog pieces is a matter of do I really need these, or do I get rid of some? Plugins are getting better and better, and at a fraction of the cost of the actual pieces. There aren’t many artists who even care about larger studios to record their material. Maybe if a large project with multiple artists would be cool, but now a days, everything is pretty much done at home or a home studio. They don’t give you the wow factor that you may get in a larger studio, but the quality is still good. So for the engineers who love analog pieces, and have spent a fortune getting them, you may have a question about whether you keep them, or downsize and make something on the sale of a few of your great pieces. Personally, I’m a hoarder. I’ll just keep them all. But, you decide.

I wanted to share with you the importance of quality over thrift. Starting out may require some of you to get what you’re able to afford, and that is perfectly understandable, but as you develop clientele and reputation, you need to step up your business and quality cables are a good start. No, it doesn’t solve everything, but it does help with the quality of your sound. There are a number of other upgrades that you will need implement as you grow, but if you can help eliminate ground noise by getting better cables, your journey will be another step closer to your success.
#MovingForward
I’ve made up my mind to leave the past where it is and move forward. That’s not to say that I am forgetting the past, because it has a lot of good experiences in it. And I just can’t forget the mistakes, because they helped shape who I am. What I’m forgetting are those naysayers who said that I wouldn’t make it. That I’m just dreaming too much. That “they ” aren’t going to let me succeed. Well, guess what? I’m here and I’m moving forward. Hang around a little longer and see everything else that “they won’t let me do! I plan on shocking everyone, yes, even you!!
